by The final chapter is here. Two weeks late but it is still upon us and I can’t help but feel a little sad that this journey into Think and Grow Rich is almost done. I must admit I found this chapter to be chock full of wisdom and action planning that I felt Mr. Hill’s questions for reflection were the best way to close this post on our last chapter. So I decided to pull out my favorite questions from the many he presented.
Before I post those questions I realized that I would re-read this chapter a few more times as I believe there is a lot more that can be learned about ourselves from this one chapter. Hill is correct when he quotes the “Fifty-seven” famous alibis by Old Man If, “People who do not succeed have one distinguishing trait in common. They know all the reasons for failure, and have what they believe to be air-tight alibis to explain away their own lack of achievement” – Napoleon Hill
I also found his steps to protect ourselves from negative influences applicable to today. The six basic fears profiled also contain references which can be applicable in 2014 as we continue to deal with the implications of the recession. With the reminder of the many ways this chapter is applicable today, here are my favorite Napoleon Hill SELF-ANALYSIS TEST QUESTIONS:
1. To which do you devote the most time, thinking of SUCCESS, or of FAILURE?
2. Who has the most inspiring influence upon you? What is the cause?
3. Do you tolerate negative or discouraging influences which you can avoid?
4. Are you careless of your personal appearance? If so, when and why?
5. Do you have a DEFINITE MAJOR PURPOSE, and if so, what is it, and what plan have you for achieving it?
6. Has today added anything of value to your stock of knowledge or state of mind?
As I strive toward the achievement of my goals, I feel it would be an invaluable learning experience to answer each of the questions presented in this chapter. I have learned so much about myself along this journey with you. I look forward to our next reading.
